CloudRT: A Chinese example of open science infrastructure and services

As the backbone of open science campaign, infrastructures (OSIs) play an increasingly important role in scientific innovation and digital transformation society. Nevertheless, OSIs still have a range issues to contend with, particularly as they move towards more openness sustainable future. In this paper, case study China, we present experience operating CloudRT—the first only open-access cloud-native high-performance computing ray-tracing platform world. Quantitative analysis demonstrates how such OSI can produce interdisciplinary impact beyond expectations. Moreover, value CloudRT is also shown through its acknowledgement by participants across whole chain, from pure engineering applications vertical industries. Both inspirations practice challenges are discussed. Suggestions put forward guide future efforts stakeholders develop fruitful ecosystem.
